Maybe That’s Duane

I think these are more character sketches for the Basket Case series idea but, honestly, I don’t remember. If they are, then that my version of Duane in the upper left.

  1. Duane looks like Stone Phillips, before he lost his hair, and when he wasn’t tooth-grindingly annoying.

  2. Not being a TV watcher I had to look him up. You’re right. The resemblance is uncanny. My sketch looks more like Stone that it looks like the actor who plays Duane.

  3. He was nice in the 90s, but his hair started to thin in 2000 and he got super-annoying. I think NBC cut him from their schedule a few years ago – probably due to his lack of hair.

I don’t think there’s any problem firing someone who’s bald or balding. That’s justifiable.

  4. Heh – indeed. And you’re not exactly one to talk, either! 🙂

I am utterly paranoid about losing my hair. Remember that old saying that you inherit your hairline from your mother’s father? My mother’s father was bald as an egg when he was 40. I’ve lived in fear for years.

On the other hand, my father’s father had a fairly good head of hair when he died in his mid-80s. I don’t understand the genetics very well, but I can say from my personal experience that I very much have my father’s family’s hairline.

So if I’m ever fired, it will be for character flaws or poor performance – nothing as important as having hair.

  5. I don’t know if my mother’s father was hair challenged or not. He died before I was born. I seem to have my father’s hairline. My hair is blond, his was dark brown.

I wonder if that hair inheritance story is one of those myths that’s been disproven but most people still haven’t heard? Kind of like how some people still think pandas aren’t bears.
