My leap carried me over the scaled men’s reaching arms, up, up, to a place on the wall that was far from their grasps. I spidered another ten feet higher just to be safe. The light from the outer cavern allowed me to see that the only exits from the temple were the two ground level door and the windows on the far wall. The doors were well guarded by the scaled men but the windows were beyond their reach.
Suddenly the room became quiet. The scaled men’s chanting and hissing stopped abruptly. I looked down. Into the room walked a man. His head and upper body were covered in a fur cowl and shawl. Around his neck was a golden symbol of some kind. It was difficult to make out the details from my vantage point.
