Letitia shook her head. She said, “It’s not a ghost. It’s a spirit that has never lived but thinks it does.”

James coughed. He said, “This is just getting more absurd. A ghost that’s not a ghost? I don’t have time for this crap. I don’t know why I ever agreed to this. I’ve got a company to run. We’ve got a meeting in the morning that can’t be put off.”

Letitia nodded. “It knows. It grows because you have time for nothing but feeding it. The life that you would share with your family and your friends is just food for the spirit.”
